We love Babies. But before the babies come there is the baby bump. Surprise, we love those too. Josh & Christina are expecting their first little one. You can tell its the first too. Something about the way they look at each other. Something in their smiles. I can’t say what it is but I think you can see it. We met them on a nice Saturday in Balboa. But the part of Balboa nobody goes. We caught them in that late summer afternoon light. I think you will like how that worked out.

Here is the finale of a beautiful rustic wedding at the Pine Hills Lodge in Julian, CA. We loved every detail here; aged wooden furniture, wildflower adorned tables and of course the apple pie vice cake for bride and groom. We had the unique opportunity to stuff the entire bridal party onto a horse-drawn carriage and then torture them with cameras. Just a few steps from the lodge is wonderful little wooded area to steal away newly-weds. The evening was capped by an intimate reception inside the lodge. Oh and the pie was delicious!

We would like to thank Jeremy & Suzanne for allowing us to capture their beautiful wedding and wish them the best of yet to come!

Jeremy & Suzanne Part 1

Please forgive us, we are running terribly behind on our blog! We have a lot of great things to share with you including weddings and portrait sessions. Up first we have a rustic Julian wedding.

Jeremy and Suzanne were married September 3rd at the Pine Hills Lodge. Suzanne looked absolutely stunning in her mother’s wedding dress, which she altered to make her own. She paired her vintage dress with amazing boots. We just love a bride in boots! The boys rounded out the western appeal in boots of their own and fantastic belt buckles. Their wildflower adorned ceremony was topped off with a horse-and-carriage sendoff for the bride and groom.

Nimitz and Crystal part 2

Here’s part two of Nimitz & Crystal’s beautiful Point Loma wedding. The weather, though overcast, was just right; not too hot, not too cold. The patio reception was a joy to shoot and their families and friends are some of the nicest we’ve met. Nimitz and Crystal are blessed to have each other. We are very happy to call them our friends!

We have to thank Geneene Thornton of Celebrations Event Planning for her expert planning and execution. The intimate ceremony was officiated by Dr. Gail Smith on the lawn of the Oceanview Room.

Nimitz and Crystal Part 1

Nimitz and Crystal have to be one of the sweetest couples we’ve had the pleasure of working with. After part one of their engagement shoot, we felt like old friends. After the trip to Disneyland, we knew these two were extra-special. (If you’re just dropping by, take a look at their engagement shoots here and here.) On the wedding day we started early on Shelter Island for some getting ready photos. We finished the morning with a first look by the marina. Their ceremony and reception followed at the Ocean View Room on the Point Loma Submarine Base.

For this session we picked a rather odd venue. Most of these photos are along the side of the road on Rosecrans Street. John drives by almost every day and has wanted to use the many doors for a long time. Linda and John were wonderful to have on this “adventure”. It took a little bit to get them loose in front of the lens but they warmed up nicely. After our walk up and down the street, we wandered over to the waterfront for a few more shots. Although we’re short on friends with yachts and therefore couldn’t get into the marina, I think we did pretty good! Stay tuned for their wedding at Torrey Pines coming soon!
